Frequently Asked Questions About Technology MarCom Consulting, Copywriting & SEO Services

Below are questions frequently asked by potential clients. For other specifics not covered here, please contact me.

Have you written for my type of business and/or technology?
I have consulted with and written copy for a wide range of small, mid-size, and large public and private business-to-business and business-to-government technology companies, including ATI Technologies (now AMD), MicroStrategy, Advanced Technology Solutions Inc., and Votenet Solutions.

A small sample of the types of software, hardware, and IT services I’ve written marketing and PR materials for include:

  • Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)
  • Servers and peripherals
  • Federal government IT services
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
  • Web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Government enterprise architecture
  • Email marketing automation

If I haven't written for your type specifically, then after a discussion of your requirements and a bit of research, I will gain enough knowledge to confidently write about your product or service. As we continue to collaborate on future projects my expertise grows and I become a valuable resource. We develop a ‘short hand' for working together and your projects will be completed even more efficiently.

How do you structure your fees?
For copywriting services, all-inclusive proposal quotes are provided on a per project basis, so that you are informed of all costs up-front (including graphic design and web design services from my partners if needed). For long term on-going projects I’m available on a retainer basis as well
.

For consulting services, you may hire me by the hour, day, project, or retainer. I will recommend a structure to ensure you get the most from your investment, but the decision is completely up to you.

What are your terms?

I require a 50% deposit to start all projects and a signed letter of agreement. An invoice for the balance will be sent along with delivery of your final drafts, which is due within 30 days.

Are re-writes included in the price?

Yes. My clients find my first drafts on-target, but there are usually tweaks to be made here and there. I will gladly make 2 revisions within 30 days of delivery of your first draft.

How long do typical projects take to complete?
I like to have at least 1 week for shorter projects and 2-4 weeks for more involved projects. This gives me time to ensure your final draft is completely polished. However, if you have a rush job, just let me know your deadline and for an extra fee of 20% I will accommodate. Your copy will always be delivered to you on or before deadline.

Can you help me with graphic design and/or website development?
Yes. For basic graphic design and layout, including adding pictures for items such as brochures and postcards, I can create the whole project for you. If you need more complex work done, I can enlist the services of my partner GRAPHEK. If website design/development is needed, I can contact one of several partners. Printing and mail fulfillment can also be arranged through several sources. This saves you the time and effort of finding and collaborating with additional people, and we can provide an all-inclusive quote up-front so you’ll know all costs before work begins.

Do you work from templates? Do you re-use content?
Everything I write is original work and is written for your audience, your needs, and your company. I do not work from ‘templates,’ nor do I re-use content from other clients.

Will you sign a NDA?
Yes, I will sign a client-provided Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Who owns the copy once you write it? Do you publish our articles under your name?
Once you pay for a project, you own it and retain the copyright. If I write an article for your company, you get the byline. I do not publish nor use material under my own name that I've written for clients.

Can you edit a draft I have already written?
Yes. If you have pre-written copy that needs a second opinion or ‘spark injection’, I’ll bring out the best in it.

Can I see your previous work?
Yes, by clicking on the Portfolio
section, you will see a variety of samples. Need something specific? I’m constantly doing new work, so please contact me and I can send you what you need.

How do we get started?
After contacting me and providing a quick overview of your project, I will send you a detailed questionnaire to fill out so that all aspects of the project are clear and agreed upon before work begins. I will ask you to send me as much background material as you can. This will be kept strictly confidential and is used for my research purposes only.

When I have written your first draft, I will send it to you for your approval. You can send me additions or notes which I will gladly incorporate. Over the next 30 days, 2 re-writes will be completed if needed, ensuring you are completely satisfied with the final draft.
